Scope and Aims

People, Place and Policy (PPP) is a free-to-publish, open access journal which provides an independent, international forum for academic debate on the current challenges faced by society globally.

We welcome the submission of articles which contribute to this debate, and address the relationship and interaction between people, place and policy.

PPP invites researchers, policymakers and practitioners to discuss and disseminate research, reflection and ideas related to contemporary interdisciplinary debates within all aspects of social policy.

‘Policy’ is conceptualised broadly to incorporate local, national and global level policy agendas.

The journal covers a wide range of social concerns including:

  • economic development and labour markets,
  • deprivation,
  • inequality and just society,
  • the welfare state,
  • the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector,
  • social exclusion,
  • housing, cities and communities,
  • sustainability,
  • health and social care,
  • responsible consumption and production,
  • energy,
  • education,
  • conservation and the environment.

People, Place and Policy (PPP) aims to promote dialogue between academics, policymakers and practitioners by supporting the dissemination of ideas, comment and findings across a range of contemporary policy issues. PPP is open to the use of creative dissemination techniques and encourages the submission of graphical articles,  shorter-form focus or review articles, alongside traditional research articles.

As well as considering the article requirements below, authors should consider whether their paper aligns with the aims and scope of the journal, whether it engages with debates raised in papers that have been published by the journal, and if their proposed paper and abstract makes this clear.
